We made it to Tulsa, safe and sound, just in time for the thunder storms and tornado watches! This is, after all, the strike zone of "Tornado Alley"!
The trip was fine all day, not even any a**hole drivers! WonderMom drove a hundred or so miles in the morning, and we had a great tailwind pushing us into Armadillo, TX. The bird (Snobrd2) got 27+ MPG on the tank from Gallup to Amarillo, some 411 miles.
Not much to report. We left Albuquerque at 5:45 MDT this morning and stopped in Santa Rosa, NM, 120 miles later for breakfast. WonderMom took the wheel there and drove into TX while I took a nap! Crossed another time zone boundry, we're now in the home time zone. We switched somewhere in TX and I drove, then I drove some more, and finally I drove 'til we got here - see no news, all driving. WonderMom makes lunch on the road - coldcut sandwiches. Of course, when we got to Tulsa, it was rush hour with lots of traffic, and us looking for a new (to us) motel off the beaten path a bit. Gas was $3.099 for straight unleaded (no ethanol)! Probably the cheapest we'll see on the trip.
Dinner tonight was a disappointment. There was a nice looking restaurant called "The Delta Cafe". The food was about on a par with Denny's but not as tasty, and my biggest complaint - no butter! We're a butter family, even our health conscious girls use butter! Any restaurant worth anything has butter to serve on request, even Denny's! Not "The Delta Cafe". and their food quality was no better than Denny's, or Mickie D's. Guess that's what passes for southern cooking. No wonder they lost the war!
OK! Off to bed - It's 10PM the latest I've been up on the trip. OH! FYI all of the severe weather watches have been cancelled! It's waiting for us enroute tomorrow - check the weather map!
