Happy belated Valentine’s Day!

It is not a holiday we celebrate much except to send cards to the grandkids. WonderMom makes great Valentine and any other kind of greeting card we might need. I bought her a copy of Greeting Card Factory for her Mac a couple of years ago and she loves it. She has saved us many times the cost of the software since then! And it has helped her get comfortable with the computer.

On to this weeks news. Not much most of the week, then our daughter, Shimmy, came to visit from CA on Friday, and things picked up. She arrived during rush hour so we spent an hour or so getting home from the airport that is a half hour away, normally. We’ve been having a great visit. Much to my enjoyment, Shimmy wanted to go to Fry’s Electronics Saturday to buy a portable hard drive for backups on her iBook. She’s running Leopard on it now and wanted it so she could use Time Machine. Well, I’m all over going to Fry’s and buying computer gear! We also stopped buy Traders Joe’s to pick up some wine for the dinner party we had planned for Saturday night!

Saturday night, we had our favorite neighbor, BikerBabe, over for a steak dinner. I cooked some steaks on the grill, WonderMom made her signature garden salad, Shimmy bought a fresh cherry pie and BikerBabe fixed some caramelized onions, creamed cucumbers with dill-weed, and a bowl of potato salad! All topped off with some good red wine while we sat cheek by jowl in the tiny dining area of our trailer! It was too cold to eat outside on the patio, dammit! But we had a feast and a gabfest and great fun with great company.

Sundays was girls day! Shimmy and WonderMom went to the nail place and got pedicured, manicured, and massaged. This has become a ritual with them when they are together in AZ or CA where such services are ubiquitous and reasonably priced. They are not very common back home in IL and prices are higher there, too, I’m told. They came home all girly and stuff, showing off their pretty hands and feet! What-ever!

Shimmy went with us to our line dancing lesson and pronounced it ‘good exercise for you’! Then she spent 20 minutes when we got home, lecturing me about getting my knee fixed! Ya! Ya! Ya! Then we went out to dinner at the local Black Angus Steak House mostly paid for buy Discover cash back!

And when we’re not shopping or dancing or eating, we’re computing! We all sit around surfing or typing away on our respective Mac’s (Yes, Shimmy always travels with her Mac!)

The only downer of the weekend was the call from Paco, our son-in-law, telling us he had a small accident with our car which we leave with them back in IL. No injuries, and the car is drivable, but poor Violet will never be the same! Won’t learn the extent of the damage ‘til Monday or Tuesday.

The good news from that front is that our 6 year old grand daughter, Sweetie Pie, has taken up knitting in a serious way. We’re so proud of her, of all of the grandkids actually, but she is Grampa’s heart throb!
